The other day I was chatting with a fellow Christian about Wii...after waiting for a long time and thinking about the pros and cons...小蟲同小貓finally decide to buy the Wii... 小貓was asking this person about the game selections...what's worth to buy and what's fun to play...then this person told小貓...why buy when the games can be downloaded from the internet??? Immediately...小貓asked...don't you think it's the same as using "翻版"? Then that person answered...download jar ma...it's different from buying "翻版"!!!
I know this person is being kind trying to tell小貓about the good deals...but then the point is...this is not "good deal"...it's STEALING!!!!
Ever since I was taught about the "truth" of 翻版 & 盜版...I tried to share and convince bros and sis around me the same value...but then sadly...a lot of Christians would rather "rationalize" themselves with the act than to admit it's wrong and start making a difference!!!
I've heard people said things like this quote here posted by Yan Yan the Pig Farmer on a website:

How can we say "download" is different from 翻版 & 盜版??? What's the difference? I guess the only difference is us "stealing in broad daylight" and us "asking someone to steal for us in the dark"...both are STEALING...and the later is even more wicked!!
I'm not saying that I'm better than anyone...it's really hard when I first started getting rid of the habit of buying 翻版 & 盜版...for us girls...it's not just CDs and games...we also have to fight翻版fashion items...for example my favourite...bags and purses!!! It's really hard to literally throw away a brand new 翻版LV purse when I know it is exactly the same as the real one...no one will notice!!!
But that's the key...we think "no one will notice"...what about our God?? So we think He is blind????
Guys and gals...I can tell you...once we get rid of the habit...it's no longer a big deal...once we have strict standards in our hearts...I don't even think about getting a 翻版bag...or download TVB drama...or PSP games...and I don't even think I'm turning down a "good deal" and being stupid...
I'm not stupid...I'm just doing the right thing...and if I don't have enough $$...then I simple wait until I save up to buy the real thing!!! =)
After a few years of 堅持...even people around me notice the difference...they may not agree...but at least they know my stand point...they know I'm not wishy-washy on my standards!!!
And even my mom knows and says to her sister (my YeeMa and YeeYee) who buy gifts for me...(although with very sarcastic tone in her voice)...my daughter is "ho bar bai" ga...she doesn't like to use翻版wor...so don't bother getting her all these good stuff lar (i.e. TVB drama set, purses, etc.)!!!
To 堅持and to make a difference in the wicked world...isn't that our calling from God? Say "NO" to 翻版&盜版這樣也做不到...then don't even mention 什麼為主傳福音!!!

Thanks for the post! Yes it is NOT RIGHT not use any download items or 翻版items. In fact, searching for "not branded but cool items" becomes my habit now. In this way, I won't be chasing for big names for bags or clothes etc and yet I can be stylish. :)

We belong to the light and not darkness...we cannot say "download" is okay cuz it's in a grey area...and cuz lots of people are doing it!!!! =#.#=
In the same way...our God won't say we're sons and daughters of "grey-ness"...we're either on His side or NOT on His side...
Just like my post earlier...we cannot just sin a little bit!!!
